Peal, Seashell and Tagua Nut Bracelet (Cowrie and Button Top Shells)
This gorgeous bracelet is made of real pearls, glass metallic seed beads, small metal beads, a cowrie shell, button top sea snail shells, and tagua nut beads. It is the embodiment of ocean life and is perfect for any marine enthusiast. I love how the dainty glass beads have a metallic finish that echoes the colours found in the depths of the seas.
Cowrie shells are highly regarded by various cultures in West Africa, India, China, Southeast Asia, and many Oceanic countries and were once used as a form of currency. They are mostly associated now with wealth, fertility, and protection, and are used in traditional clothing, jewellery, and spiritual ceremonies. Some believe they also hold powers of divination and are powerful tools for amplifying your energy.
The button top seashells would have once housed sea snails and other crustaceans at the bottom of the sea before washing ashore. I found them in a box of dusty, unloved shells at a thrift store, and I just knew I needed to bring them home and turn them into something beautiful. Each shell has a unique pattern and tells a different story; they're a lovely part of nature that deserves to be seen, loved, and worn. Seashells are sacred to many cultures around the globe and hold a variety of spiritual meanings. In some cultures, they represent fertility, love, protection, the lifecycle, rebirth, and the bridge between our world and the spiritual world. Some believe they aid in giving the wearer wisdom, resilience, emotional healing, and protection.
Pearls are widely believed to represent purity, wisdom, and peace. They are most connected to divine feminine energy and are thought to bring forth new beginnings and transformation. Pearls are created when an irritant, like a grain of sand, ends up inside a mollusc's shell (like an oyster or mussel) and irritates the mantle. The mollusc then coats the irritant with layers of nacre (also known as mother-of-pearl), a combination of calcium carbonate and conchiolin, which is the same substance that makes up its shell. Over time, these layers build up to form a pearl. Due to the way pearls are created, people often associate them with giving strength and resilience to the wearer and act as a symbol of overcoming past traumas and pains, transforming that energy into something beautiful.
Tagua nuts, also known as vegetable ivory, hold significant spiritual meaning to many cultures, particularly within indigenous cultures of South America. They are often associated with prosperity, happiness, love, and abundance. Tagua nuts are believed to promote emotional and spiritual well-being, representing sacred feminine energy and fostering harmony.
Glass represents and carries the energies of transformation, merging of elements, rebirth, focus and communication. When light shines through a glass prism, it brings in the vibrations of those specific colour energies. The glass beads in this bracelet show colours of purple, green, and deep blue, and for some may represent the crown chakra, heart chakra, and throat chakra.
This bracelet is also made using jewellery-grade elasticated thread, which DOES contain plastic, but I'm using up my supply before I switch to sustainably sourced elastic, so this reel doesn't go to waste. This bracelet will fit most wrist sizes, though if you would prefer a specific size, add a note upon purchasing, and I will tailor it to you.
This bracelet will come in recycled tissue paper and will be packaged in a plastic-free envelope.
